Question: What are the fees for the ACH origination service?
Answer: There is a fee for this service, which differs depending on whether you are sending Same Day or future dated ACH. There is an onboarding process where we’ll work with you to establish limits and set you up to use the solution. We are happy to connect you with our Relationship Management team to provide more specifics.
Question: Does the payee email notification work with a CSV file? or Nacha files?
Answer: Payee notifications do not work on import/passthru files, whether Nacha formatted or CSV, because those files do not contain your recipients’ email addresses. In order to use the payee notification feature, you’d have to create a payee with their email address, which can be done when you use Quick ACH or a Template.
Question: Do you have sample copies of 'prevention policies and procedures' that are already created that could be easily modified to fit an organization? Thank you.
Answer: We do not have a sample policy/procedure as each business would have different needs and guidelines for their staff. However, we have many resources and materials to help and are happy to pass them along. These include our Security Best Practices checklist, guidance from our regional payments association (NEACH), and originator self-assessment questions. From these resources, you can develop procedures that are right for your team, and we are happy to assist.
Question: How does ACH origination interact with QuickBooks?
Answer: If you use QuickBooks to create your Nacha formatted ACH file, you will download the file from QuickBooks and upload it to our online banking solution as an import file. There is no integration that pushes ACH files from QuickBooks to KSB. However, if you’re wondering about integration to reconcile your accounts with Kennebec Savings Bank, and track transactions processed in ACH origination, these post as regular debit and credit transactions to your account which would import into QuickBooks as your other account transactions do.
Question: What happens if an originator submits a same day ACH and misses the deadline because their time is off from the KSB clock. Does it automatically go to a next day delivery?
Answer: Kennebec Savings Bank has two Same Day ACH cutoff times – 11am and 2pm. The final cutoff for a Same Day ACH transaction is 2pm. If your clock is out of sync with KSB and you’re cutting it close to that final cutoff and attempt to enter a Same Day ACH transaction and it is after 2pm, the system would automatically gray the current date out and only allow you to select a future business date. In an emergency where you need the file to go out on the same business date and you missed the cutoff, please reach out to Business Support and we will try our best to assist.
Question: When an originator enters ACH and it says “authorization needed,” does that mean another person in my organization has to approve the transaction after I enter?
Answer: Yes, we use dual control with ACH Origination, where one person submits and a second person at your organization authorizes the transaction.
Question: When you email a payee using the new feature, can a message be included?
Answer: With the new Email Payees feature, a default message is sent to the payee with the amount of the transaction, date, and your Payment Company name. Currently, there is no way to customize that message.
Question: I came into this event late. Will this event be viewable on your website in its entirety?
Answer: Yes, all materials and a full recording will be available after the session.
Question: Is there a pdf fillable form to get the payee information?
Answer: Yes; we can provide and are always happy to help you with authorization forms that you can use with your receivers. Reach out if you'd like a sample.
Question: Is ACH available to Canada or internationally?
Answer: International ACH is not available with KSB’s ACH origination service.
Question: What is the process for building upload templates?
Answer: There are a variety of 3rd party services that offer the ability to create Nacha formatted files. If you would like to create a CSV file of transactions, the online banking solution allows you to download a template. You would fill it out with account numbers, routing numbers, amounts, and other required information, such as Transaction Codes. The ACH network uses transaction codes to indicate whether a transaction is a debit or credit, and whether it is being sent to a checking or savings account. If you originate ACH with KSB, we will assist you with this information.
Question: We've been using ACH for years. Is it possible to get a refresher for my staff?
Answer: Yes! Please send a message center message or email BusinessSupport@KennebecSavings.Bank and we will be happy to set something up with you.
